Chin tightening: Refreshing your most powerful feature – your face!

An important part of the face that we tend to take for granted is the chin. When the skin around it is tight, it adds a certain charisma, statuesque charm, and even an air of command if it’s a ‘strong’ chin. Over time, however, fat can build up and the skin can loosen, affecting the entire jawline. In some cases, jowls may even develop, or the effect of time on the chin might simply make its owner look very tired.

These days, however, tightening the chin doesn’t have to involve invasive surgery and that’s going to be our topic today. In this article, we’ll tell you about surgical vs non-surgical options, so that you’ll have a better idea of the solutions out there, as well as the most popular and non-invasive chin tightening option around!

If you’re ready, then let’s talk about chin tightening for refreshing your most powerful feature – your face!

Chin tightening –Surgical vs Non-Surgical options

It’s funny how one area of the face can have so much power over how you look, but your chin is definitely such an area – or more accurately, your neck! You see, a chin tightening treatment involves tightening at the neck, so that skin that has loosened and perhaps developed small pockets of fat may be tightened and held in such a way that it takes years off of your face. No sagging, no jowls, no double chin— these conditions are all easily and effectively corrected – and the end result is tighter skin in the jawline and throughout the face, as well as the youthful grace it restores to the contours of your neck and throat.

In this section we’ll tell you how this is accomplished and along the way, we’ll also tell you a little about how each treatment is done, how long the expected recovery time is, and how long you can expect your results to last.

We’ll start off with the surgical options and that way you can contrast them with the non-surgical ones and make an informed decision of what you’d like to do. Let’s take a look!

Surgical options

There are a number of surgical options that may be used for loosening skin at the throat, the appearance of jowls, or a double chin. For instance, liposuction is often used with a double chin and sometimes accompanied by a chin tuck or a neck lift.

To keep things simple and in the interest of space, we’ll talk about the popular neck lift option to give you an idea of what it entails and what to expect. After that, we’ll move on to the non-surgical option so that you can see how they compare.

Neck lift

Also known as a lower rhytidectomy, a neck lift had to do with the tightening of muscles and trimming-off excess skin to restore youthful contours in the neck and by extension, to the face and especially the chin. This surgery works for a number of conditions, such as horizontal banding of the skin, excess neck fat, saggy skin from weight loss, and early or later-stage wrinkling.

This option is less-invasive than a facelift, but it’s definitely still surgery. What happens is the patient is given anesthesia through a needle or intravenously and their surgeon begins by around the ear and sometimes underneath the chin. During this time, the platysma muscle will be tightened, tissue is readjusted, fat is removed, and excess skin will be neatly trimmed. Stitches are put in place when the work is done and the results from this procedure will typically last between 10 and 15 years. Recovery time after the surgery is typically about 4 – 6 weeks, and while the pain and swelling is typically gone within the first 2 –  weeks, in some cases the neck swelling may last as long as 3 months!

Non-Surgical options

With such a long recovery time, it’s easy to see why one would want an alternative. Thankfully, there are a lot of options for chin tightening out there and in this section, we’ll tell you a little about each so that you know how they work and what to expect!

Botox injections

Botox may be used for chin tightening and is effective sometimes as a treatment for jowls. Known as a ‘Nefertiti lift’, injections of botulinum toxin are strategically placed so that the muscles in the neck will be allowed to relax. This can be effective, but typically only to a small degree, so this is not always going to be an option for more advanced cases. The procedure itself only takes a few minutes and there is no recovery time needed, with results lasting 3 -4 months on average before the treatment must be repeated.

Kybella injections

If there is only a small amount of fat and no excess skin to be dealt with, then Kybella injections are an option for chin tightening that may be used. Kybella works by breaking down fat and is typically administered in 15 – 20 minute sessions. The results can last a lifetime, although the recovery time can take anywhere from 1 up to 2 months before swelling will fully go down.

Fraxel Laser treatment

Laser skin tightening is another modern option and with a Fraxel treatment, a CO2 laser is used to vaporize very minute areas of skin, while the heat from this causes the newly-stripped skin to shrink and to begin producing collagen. The process itself usually takes around half an hour, although there is also a 45 minute period where anesthesia is administered and confirmed to be doing its job before the treatment may be started. Recovery time is between 8 and 10 days and the results may last up to 12 months, depending on the patient’s skin.

Thermage laser treatment

Thermage is a specialized laser treatment that employs radiofrequency energy to firm up elastin and collagen in the skin, and to stimulate collagen production as well. This is a good choice for younger patients and the process itself takes about 20 minutes to an hour and redness or any swelling is typically gone within 24 hours. Results from thermage are slow and steady, with the benefits being at their peak around the 6-month mark, and the results can last for many years, depending on the patient’s skin type.

Ultherapy laser treatment

Ultherapy is a laser-based option that incorporates ultrasound frequencies which lift and tighten up the skin. While one treatment may be sufficient for some patients, multiple treatments may be required by others. The process itself takes 60 to 90 minutes and the results may last up to 2 years.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are sometimes employed as a chin tightening strategy and the way that it is done is the fillers are inserted in such a way that they lift the cheeks, also tightening the skin around the mouth. The procedure usually takes about an hour and results may last as long as 2 years, depending on the type of filler.

Chin tightening with a PDO thread lift

Our last non-surgical option is also the most popular – A Chin Tightening treatment by means of a PDO thread lift. You can see the procedure being performed by clicking the provided link, but we can outline the basics. Typically, PDO threads are placed in the neck in order to tighten the skin and muscles, but the needles used are also employed to break up a little fat from the way that they are placed and the properties of the specialized PDO threads.

Quality PDO threads, such as VSoft Lift, are designed to slowly dissolve over time, but while they do they will be stimulating collagen and elastin production and the threads act at the subdermal layer to initiate lipolysis, so that while the threads are in place they are constantly reducing fat volume.

The whole process takes about half an hour to perform and recovery time is about 24 hours, although the patient is advised not to do any heavy lifting or other strenuous activities for the next 2 – 3 weeks. Results from this favored method of chin tightening can last as long as 2 years, but the threads that you use are going to make an enormous difference – we’ll tell you a little more about it and give you some information that you can reference on your own if you’d like to learn more!

Not all PDO threads are the same – be sure to request the best!

It’s important to go with the best PDO threads and VSoft lift threads come from the largest PDO thread producer in the world, so they’re definitely the ones that you’ll want for your PDO Chin tightening treatment. For the actual treatment, 12 VSoft Smooth PDO Threads Size 29G x 30MM are employed and bring the following perks to your procedure:

  • Tensile strength – With a strength of 10 to 20 times what other threads on the marker bring to the table, VSoft lift provides a stronger hold that lasts longer and requires fewer threads for your procedure. This, in turn, makes an already swift recovery even faster!
  • Collagen stimulation – VSoft Lift threads have a proprietary thread coating that not only enhances their strength, but ensures the MOST collagen stimulation of any PDO thread available on the market.
  • Lipolysis – At the subdermal layer, VSoft PDO threads encourage lipolysis so that pockets of fat may be melted away slowly and naturally until the threads finally dissolve.

While you could certainly go with another type of PDO threads, the end result is going to be more threads, less collagen stimulation, and your results are not going to last as long. It’s really as simple as that!

Some final words on PDO Chin Tightening treatments

Today we’ve taken a look at the surgical and non-surgical options for chin tightening and it’s easy to see why a PDO thread lift Chin Tightening treatment is considered one of the very best options. Often called a ‘lunch lift’ for the half-hour that it takes to do and quick recovery time, you get results that can last for up to 2 years and while those PDO threads are in place, you’ve got collagen and elastin being maximized and lipolysis slimming your skin as it melts away unsightly fats.

While surgery is permanent, it’s also highly expensive and invasive, and other treatments are simply not as cost-effective or as long-lasting. So, why not go with the procedure that people around the world have been raving about?

With a chin tightening treatment with quality VSoft PDO threads, you can take control and turn back time to refresh your most powerful feature – your face!  Be sure to check out the procedure being done to see what you think (and here’s the link again just in case you missed it).
